This Data Use & Disclaimer outlines the terms under which datasets published by the Human Clarity Institute (“HCI”, “we”, “us”) may be accessed and used. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
1. Purpose of Use
HCI datasets are provided for research, analysis, and informational purposes only. They are intended to support understanding of human experience, behaviour, and values in the digital and AI era, and are not designed for individual-level decision-making, profiling, or commercial exploitation.
2. Anonymisation & Participant Protection
All datasets are released in anonymised and de-identified form. No direct identifiers (such as names, contact details, or platform-specific identifiers) are included.
Users must not attempt to re-identify, contact, link, or otherwise infer the identity of any individual represented in the data.
3. No Warranties
HCI makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the datasets. All data are provided on an “as is” basis.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HCI accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or consequences arising from the use, interpretation, or application of the datasets by third parties.
Responsibility for analysis methods, conclusions, interpretations, and downstream use rests entirely with the user.
5. Responsible and Lawful Use
By accessing or using HCI datasets, users agree to:
- Use the data in a manner consistent with its stated research purpose
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical research standards

6. Relationship to Other Policies
This Data Use & Disclaimer governs the use of HCI’s published datasets. General website use and personal data handling are governed separately by our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These datasets, and any use of them, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising in connection with the use of HCI datasets shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
